Potomac Harmony Chorus Greets Over 300 WWII Veterans As They Arrive To Visit The Memorial Built to Honor Their Service

Arlington, Virginia (October 10, 2011).  Over 40 members of Northern Virginia’s Potomac Harmony Chorus sang God Bless America and other patriotic songs for over three hours last Saturday at Reagan Airport, greeting over 300 World War II veterans as they flew into Washington, D.C. to visit the memorial dedicated to their service.

Dressed in patriotic colors and waving small flags, the chorus members greeted three full flights of veterans—both men and women—arriving from Wisconsin and Minnesota.  The singers were joined at times in singing to the disembarking vets and their companions by delighted onlookers and volunteers representing various branches of the military.  Several of the veterans joined in as well.

“Potomac Harmony frequently performs for our community,” said Ozzi Mask, Chorus Director.  “We were especially honored and so moved to sing for these veterans as they started their special day here in the Nation’s Capital.”

The chorus – which specializes in four-part a cappella harmony, barbershop style – was invited to join the special ceremony by US Airways and the Honor Flight Network, a non-profit organization that since 2005 has flown, free of charge, over 63,000 veterans to visit the memorials built in their honor.
