Local Chapter of Sweet Adelines International to Hold Open House for Women and Teens Who Like to Sing
Arlington, Virginia (December 21, 2011). On Wednesday, January 25, the award-winning Potomac Harmony Chorus will host an Open House at The Hermitage Auditorium, 5000 Fairbanks Avenue, Alexandria, VA. From 7 to 9 pm, visitors will be treated to refreshments and socializing, along with quartet and chorus demonstrations and a group singing lesson during which everyone will learn and perform a full song.
“Who among us won’t be making a New Year’s resolution to get more active, to make new friends, to help others, or to learn something new?” said Open House Chair Janell Tuttle. “If you’re a woman age 13 or older, attending our Open House will help you achieve your 2012 goals!”
The January 25 event is one of many such gatherings planned that month across the United States and abroad by chapters of Sweet Adelines International, a 25,000-member organization that promotes musical education and performance opportunities for women.
Having recently celebrated its 35th anniversary, the 80-member Potomac Harmony Chorus performs a wide variety of music, all in four-part a cappella style. Under the direction of Master Director Ozzi Mask, the chorus has been honored for musical excellence multiple times in judged competitions. Potomac Harmony and its affiliated quartets maintain strong involvement in the community by performing in numerous local venues, offering free voice lessons, and singing in support of various charitable causes.
